Privacy Policy

At LinguaTech, we care deeply about your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal information in connection with the Fluo mobile application ("App"). By using Fluo, you agree to the terms of this Privacy Policy. Terms used here that are not defined have the meaning given in our Terms of Service.

1. Information We Collect

We collect the following types of personal information:

  • Name and Email Address: Collected through Apple Sign-In or Google Sign-In to create and manage your account.
  • User ID: A unique identifier associated with your account, used internally to manage your profile and app data.
  • Purchase History: Subscription data (monthly or annual), including plan type and status, used to manage access to paid content.
  • Gameplay Content: Responses generated during language activities (e.g., dictation, quizzes, or AI conversations) are stored and analyzed to improve learning outcomes.
  • Voice and Audio Data: Voice recordings submitted through the app are sent to our backend for transcription via an edge function. Temporary audio files are deleted from your device after processing.
  • Product Interaction: Usage events (e.g., app opened, activity completed) are collected to understand general app usage and improve the experience.
  • Customer Support: If you contact us, we store any details you provide in order to respond and assist you effectively.
  • Device Identifier: An Identifier for Vendor (IDFV) — or a UUID fallback — stored in on-device preferences and sent to Supabase and Firebase for analytics and account association.
  • Analytics: Device model, OS version, and usage performance metrics collected through Firebase Analytics to measure feature adoption and improve the experience.

We do not collect passwords or payment card data. Subscription payments are processed via Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play).

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your personal data to:

  • Authenticate and manage your user account
  • Enable access to free or premium content
  • Analyze usage patterns to improve features and content difficulty
  • Process user content (such as chat messages and audio recordings) through AI service providers to enable language learning features including conversation practice, transcription, and feedback
  • Provide customer support
  • Monitor technical performance and usage trends

We do not use your data for marketing or advertising purposes.

3. Advertising and Tracking

We do not use your personal information for advertising, tracking, or data brokerage. We do not engage in cross-app tracking or share user data with advertising platforms.

4. How We Collect Information

We collect information:

  • Directly from you when you create an account or contact us
  • Automatically through the app (e.g., device and usage data)
  • From third-party platforms (e.g., Apple, Google) when authorized by you

5. Third-Party Services

We use Supabase as our backend service provider. Supabase handles user authentication, data storage, and analytics infrastructure. All user data is securely stored on Supabase servers.

User content — including chat messages and audio recordings — is sent to our backend edge functions, which act as a secure proxy to OpenAI and Google Gemini. These providers process the data solely to deliver the requested language learning features, in accordance with their respective data processing agreements.

Other service providers:

  • Firebase (Google LLC) — analytics.
  • Firebase Crashlytics (Google LLC) — crash reporting for app stability monitoring.
  • YouTube API (Google LLC) — fetches public video metadata; no personal data is sent.
  • OpenAI (OpenAI, L.L.C.) — processes user text and audio for AI conversations, transcription (Whisper), and speech synthesis (TTS).
  • AssemblyAI (AssemblyAI, Inc.) — processes audio for speech recognition and transcription.
  • Google Gemini (Google LLC) — processes user text for AI conversations and feedback.
  • Singular (Singular Labs, Inc.) — mobile attribution and analytics.
  • Inworld (Inworld AI, Inc.) — text-to-speech provider.
  • LangSmith (LangChain, Inc.) — observability infrastructure for AI features; user identifiers and sensitive content are sanitized before any data is sent.

6. Sharing Your Information

We do not sell or rent your personal data. We only share it:

  • With service providers under strict data processing agreements (e.g., for analytics or infrastructure hosting)
  • When required by law or in legal proceedings
  • With your consent or at your request

7. Data Retention

We retain your personal data only as long as necessary to provide the service or as required by applicable law. We initiate deletion of your personal data upon account deletion. This process completes within 30 days unless legal retention obligations apply.

You may delete your account at any time from Profile › Settings › Delete Account inside the app.

8. Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have some or all of the following rights with respect to your personal data:

  • Access – obtain confirmation that we process your data and receive a copy.
  • Rectification – correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
  • Erasure – request deletion ("right to be forgotten") in certain circumstances.
  • Restriction – ask us to pause processing while we verify accuracy or our legal basis.
  • Portability – receive your data in a commonly used, machine-readable format and transmit it to another controller.
  • Objection – object to processing based on legitimate interests or for direct marketing.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data-protection supervisory authority if you believe we have not handled your request properly. The EDPB list of supervisory authorities is available online.

If you are a California resident, you may have additional rights under the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA).

If you are a resident of Brazil, you may have additional rights under the Lei Geral de Proteção de Dados (LGPD).

If you are a resident of Argentina, you may have additional rights under Ley 25.326 (Personal Data Protection Law).

9. Security Measures

We rely on Supabase, our backend infrastructure provider, to implement industry-standard security measures including secure server infrastructure, encrypted data transmission, and access controls. While we rely on trusted third-party providers and follow best practices, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.

10. Children's Privacy

You must be 13 years of age or older—or at least the minimum age required in your country—to use Fluo. If you are between 13 and 17, you may only use the app with the permission and supervision of a parent or legal guardian.

We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 13. If we discover that such information has been provided, we will delete it promptly and may suspend the associated account.

11. International Users

Your data is processed and stored in secure data centers operated by our service providers, including Supabase, which may be located in jurisdictions outside of your country of residence. These locations may not have the same data protection laws as your home country. By using Fluo, you consent to the transfer of your data to these jurisdictions.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in our practices or legal obligations. We will notify you of material changes through the App or by other means. The date of the last update is posted at the top of this document.
